The active ingredient is supposed to impede yeast growth that causes scalp infections. Possible side-effects include ';skin irritation, dry skin, oily or dry hair/scalp, or temporary hair loss';, but I don't know if it's tied to a specific type of Selsun Blue. It depends on if you're somehow allergic to its active ingredient or if that ingredient somehow interacts with other medications that you may be taking.
I don't know if you can get Selsun Blue over the counter, but it used to be prescribed by a doctor. In either case, you should talk with your doctor if you're worried about such side effects.
Good luck! Can a specific type of Selsun Blue Shampoo cause hair loss?
calcium deficiency and shoulders.
